We left Swakopmund early as we knew the drive to our pick-up point (Fontein Pos) would take approximately six hours.  Initially, we were on a salt road.  It was okay but there was fog so it was a bit slippery.  Then, we went onto a dirt track.  It too was fine except when the wind blew so hard that it was very difficult to see.  It wasn't until we were about an hour away from the camp that we drove on a tar road (one which goes east/west and provides access to Etosha National Park).  We turned towards the east and went to the designated place (Fontein Pos) where we would leave our vehicle and be picked up by our Ranger, Abner, from Damaraland Camp.  Our ride to the camp was great as the setting is so amazing.  Then, after settling into our abode, we enjoyed an outdoor barbeque dinner (a brai).  Click on the first image to begin.
