We made a stop at Tsumeb enroute to the Okonjima Reserve.  The Tsumeb mine was closed in 1996.  The small town still survives because it is the closest town to Etosha National Park and is known as "The Gateway to the North of Namibia".  Tsumeb produced a wealth of gem specimens that were quickly bought by avid mineral collectors (Ed being one at the time).  After exploring Tsumeb, we headed to Okonjima Game Reserve, our home for the next two nights.  Click on the first image to begin.
