We spent five wonderful nights at Chitwa Chitwa in the Sabi Sands game reserve.  We drove into the property after spending time with Ken & Cathy in Kruger National Park.  Once we arrived at Chitwa Chitwa, our time was devoted to game viewing and being spoiled by the wonderful staff.  Chitwa Chitwa sits in a lovely setting with a waterhole just across from the main buildings.  The main buildings are beautiful and there’s lots of seating when you want to relax there. Our main reason for choosing Chitwa Chitwa was to find a special place to celebrate Ed's Eightieth Birthday (the "Big 80!").  It was a great choice!  Our rooms were huge and beautifully appointed. All meals were delicious thanks to Chef Oscar and his team. The staff did a fantastic job in making the birthday a very special one; kudos to everyone!  We were lucky to have Harley and Moses as our guide and tracker. They did an amazing job in locating wildlife. We saw the “Big Five” within our first two days of gaming. Also, we were lucky to locate a pack of Wild Dogs; always a special treat!  Our days began with a wake-up call and then we assembled for a morning game drive.  We returned for a late breakfast.  In the early afternoon, we typically enjoyed a light lunch.  Then, following afternoon tea, we headed out for another game drive followed by “Sundowners” (cocktails in the bush).  We returned to Chitwa Chitwa in time to relax at the bar before dinner.  On one evening, we had a braii – a barbeque meal of roasted game and other items – served in the bush.  It’s a lot of work for the staff but a real treat for everyone who attended.  Our wildlife photographs are organized by day so you can see how special the gaming is in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve.  Our photographs of the lodge and Ed’s Eightieth birthday celebration are shown separately.  Click on a folder below to begin.
