The Nene Goose or Hawaiian Goose is the official state bird of Hawaii.  However, roosters are by far the most widely seen and heard birds of Kauai (and, yes, they are accompanied by hens & chicks).  They are everywhere and we mean everywhere - including cities, beach areas and in State Parks.  We eventually did spot some Nene at the Kileaua National Wildlife Reserve
