This is the interior of the sauna.  It was also used as a laundry room.  Water came from a well adjacent to the sauna.

Here is the family sauna.  It was designed by Aino Sibelius.

The green fireplace is original.  When designing Ainola, Jean requested that it be part the dining room.  

The two female house workers - Aino and Helmi - shared this tiny bedroom and sitting area.

A cabinet in the kitchen.  The Sibelius home had no running water until after Jean Sibelius death.  Water pipes were installed in 1963 (Jean died in 1957).  Jean Sibelius feared that the mechanical sounds from the pipes would have disturbed his composing.

This is the small kitchen where meals were prepared.  The Sibelius family had two house workers for over 60 yeas.   Aino Kari was the housemaid and nanny.  Helmi Vainikainen was the cook.  The Sibelius family also had a stableman and caretaker - Heikki Sornumem - who lived in the stone basement in the house.
