Ed is standing by a sign which points to the 2013 flood level.  It's simply amazing that the water could have gotten so high!

Wow, only the second camp we've stayed at that has a double bed (the other being Pretoriuskop).  It makes sense that single beds are most often used since many times groups of individuals travel through the Park - not just couples.

This is the kitchen we loved as it was indoors.  We don't know whether the original abodes had indoor or outdoor kitchens but in the Rest Camps, the majority of the kitchens are outdoors.  This was great because it was so much easier for Ed to cook in here rather than outdoors in the 30F+ temperatures.

This is the exterior of our abode in Shingwedzi.  Note the amazing thatched roof.  Sitting next to the abode is our trusty VW Polo.

We're at The Tropic of Capricorn.  This display has great maps which show where we're at in South Africa as well as in Kruger National Park.  On December 21, South Africa begins its summer season.

This is a great road near Shingwedzi where you go down, down, down and then immediately go up, up, up after crossing what was now a dry creek bed (with some concrete to make crossing easier when there is water flowing).

This is a view of the massive bridge which crosses the Shingwedzi River.  When we visited this area in 2013, all the railing was gone from the bridge; yes, the water was that high and that destructive.

This is a beautiful view from the Nyawutzi Hide.  It was great to be out of the car for a few moments and take in this setting.

These two men were manually repairing the thatched roof on this abode.  We took this photograph at Mopani Rest Camp when we were taking a break there before returning to Shingwedzi.  Wow, what an amazing skill set.  It was a bit scary to watch as there was no safety netting.

We're in an area known as Red Rocks.  We were able to get out of the car and enjoy this setting.  We had hoped some animals might join us by drinking at the waterhole but none appeared.
