The Presidential Palace, located near Sisaket Temple on the
banks of The Mekong River, opened in 1986 as a venue for government
functions and ceremonies. The majestic building is closed to
the public. The Presidential Palace is not the official home
of the Lao president (the president's residence is located in the
suburb of Ban Phonthan).
