We spent the nights of 23 September and 24 September at Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp.  On the morning of 23 September, we flew from Arusha to the closest airstrip located near Lake Manyara.  After enjoying a light breakfast with our guide, Hamisi, we drove through Lake Manyara National Park.  The setting was lovely and there was plenty of game (although we didn't see the famous "Tree Climbing Lions").  Afterwards, we drove to the Camp in time to enjoy sundowners while looking across the crater rim.  Sanctuary Ngorongoro is located in the Ngorongoro UNESCO World Heritage Site.  It has great road access into the crater so our vehicles were able to arrive much earlier than any other camps/lodges.  We drove into Ngorongoro Crater early on the morning of 24 September.  Click on our "Lake Manyara National Park" album below to begin.
