After breakfast, we once again took the metro to the center of town. We spent the day walking, walking, walking… and it was worth it! We began at the beautiful Music Hall. Then we continued on to Magasin Department Store which has been in operation for over 150 years. We slowed our pace a bit to enjoy the beautiful Botanic Gardens; lovely!
Our next stop was The King’s Garden with its beautiful Rosenborg Castle. The castle is over 400 years old and was built by Scandinavian King Christian IV between 1606 - 1634. In addition to the main building, we enjoyed the rose garden with its many statutes (unfortunately, we didn’t know most of the individuals).
Next it was time to hop on a Copenhagen harbor bus to get a perspective from the water. It was definitely a treat! The tower of Christiansborg Palace was visible from almost every vantage point. It is the highest tower in Copenhagen at 106 meters tall. We saw lots of traditional buildings as well as the Royal Library known affectionately as the “Black Diamond”. We also saw some additional modern buildings along the canal.
It was now late in the day and time to hop off the waterbus at Kongens Nytorn to catch the metro home. We enjoyed our final happy hour at The Crowne Plaza before packing in anticipation of our return tomorrow to Madrid.
