We spent three nights at the Punda Maria Rest Camp (April 18, 19 and 20).  This was our first visit to this northern Camp and we booked a safari tent which was very, very nice.  We left Letaba Rest Camp early on the 18th and made our way to Punda Maria with a stop at the Shingwedzi Rest Camp.  We had amazing viewing the entire drive - Buffalo, Elephants and lots of other creature.  On April 19, we went even further north taking various dirt and/or gravel roads.  We again enjoyed lots of game viewing.  We also stopped by an area known as "Crook’s Corner". This is at the confluence of the Luvuvhu River and the Limpopo River. We were looking directly across at Zimbabwe and, if we had taken a step over the fence, we would have been in Mozambique! In the past, the area was basically a “no man’s land” where bad guys hung out as there was no clear rule on which country had jurisdiction. On April 20, we stayed in the area near Punda Maria and stopped by waterholes and took a loop road the begins and ends near the Rest Camp.  Again, gaming was great and we actually saw a Leopard on the ground!  Pretty amazing as this part of Kruger isn't known as being "Cat Country".  Click on the first photograph below to experience our wildlife viewing in this area.
