After a very long day of game viewing on September 13, we choose to make it a shorter day. That being said, it was very productive in terms of game viewing; we completed our viewing of the "Big Five" (we've done that every year we've been to Kruger which attests to the great game viewing available in the Park). Just off the H1-1 en route to the H3, we found a Buffalo carcass with three male Lions. Photography was impossible at the kill but we eventually got a shot of one the Lions as it was leaving. We turned south on the H3 hoping to spot Rhino but no luck despite lots of "Rhino toilets.” So, we decided to go to Bergendahl Rest Camp. After a break there, went to the Majlulu Waterhole where we had our first sighting of Rhino in 2013. True to form, there we found a group of three Rhino – a female, calf & male - sleeping in the shade. Again, we took a new route back to the H3 via the windy, steep S110/S120 gravel roads. We enjoyed some great views but there was very little game since it was the heat of the day. From there we continued on back to Pretoriuskop. Click on the first image to begin.
