We and Lisa (in our car) and Rich and Brenda (in their car) left Renee's on August 20 and headed to Cheyenne, Wyoming arriving late in the day. While the traffic was heavy, it wasn't too bad. That being said, our motel was packed as were most restaurants in Cheyenne. On August 21, we all got up early and left the motel at 4:00AM in hopes of getting a good spot to watch the eclipse at Fort Laramie National Historic Site. We weren't the only ones who thought leaving early was a good idea. The Interstate was bumper-to-bumper moving at the 80MPH speed limit; yikes! Needless to say, it was a relief when the sun finally came up and we were on State Highway 26. At Fort Laramie National Historic Site, everything was incredibly well organized and we were able to park and then select a viewing site. Afterwards, we had plenty of time to explore the Historic Site before the eclipse began at ~11:45AM and lasted 51 seconds. It's something none of us will ever forget! We'll also never forget trying to get out of Wyoming and back to Denver. Using the WAZE application and multiple routes, we finally arrived at 10:00PM. Definitely a long day, but definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
